As part of our commitment to service and support to our moorers and visitors alike, Crick Marina has procured a ZOLL Plus automated external defibrillator (AED).
This is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient, and is able to treat them through defibrillation, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm. With simple audio and visual commands, AEDs are designed to be simple to use for the layman.
The AED will be housed in a purpose designed cabinet within the marina and will be readily available to moorers and vistors alike in cases of an emergency. East Midlands Ambulance Service is fully supporting Crick Marina in this initiative and will formally adopt the AED.
The Harbourmaster at Crick, Noel Roberts, is a qualified Community First Responder who already responds to patients in the local Crick community, which includes Crick Marina.
